The Details on the Groves versus Eubank Junior Match
George Groves and Chris Eubank Junior are two of the United Kingdom’s finest professional boxers, and the World Boxing Super Series has finally pitted these two pugilists against one another.
Groves Defending His Built for the Second Time
Groves is the current super-middleweight champion for the World Boxing Association, and will be putting the belt on the line for the second time in the match against Eubank. He held his first defense fight at the Wembley Arena in the quarterfinal of the WBSS. This was a series of eight-man KO tournament with a final round scheduled for the summer, in which Groves knocked Jamie Cox out in the fight’s fourth round.
Eubank Junior Enjoying His 26th Career Win
Meanwhile, Eubank Junior needed only three rounds in order to dispatch Avni Yildirim in Germany, a feat which managed to secure the fighter the 26th win of his career.
May’s Muhammad Ali Trophy
The winner of the fight between Groves and Eubank Junior will go on to take part in a match for the first Muhammad Ali Trophy, to take place in May, against either Callum Smith or Juergen Brahmer.
The Date and Time for Groves vs. Eubank
The British boxers will be getting into the ring on the 2nd of February 2018, at the Manchester Arena, and the tickets for the fight sold out within just hours of becoming available. The timing of the evening’s main event will depend on how the undercard progresses, much of which remains to be confirmed.
Based on previous events at this venue, however, the fighters will most likely begin their ring walks at about 22h30.
Watching the Fight on TV/Online
Boxing in Britain has for the most part been taken up by Sky Sports and, more recently, BT Sports, with lesser events being shown on Channel 5. However, the WBSS have a deal in place with ITV to show all their fights in the super-middleweight and cruiserweight divisions. This fight will be aired live on the ITV Box Office, but the pricing for the pay-per-view event has not yet been announced.
Those unable to purchase the fight through their televisions will be able to do so through TV Player. The site requires a once-off payment in order to access the stream through the website or app, but doesn’t allow users to watch the match on TV by doing so.
