Bet365 is titan of the global betting industry, and since launching in Australia in 2012 have become a heavyweight of the down under industry as well. They claim through their marketing to be one of the world’s biggest betting companies for many reasons, and to be perfectly honest, it’s difficult to argue with them.
The most notable features of Bet365 is their enormous range of markets, and their almost unparallelled odds. They have betting markets on every sport you can imagine and then some, and the selection they have for those sports – particularly the major leagues – is virtually second to none. And they don’t skimp on the odds either, with the value available with Bet365 as good as anywhere.
But that isn’t all that they offer. Bet365 also has a unique and user-friendly desktop site and mobile app, a massive range of payment options, relatively good customer support as well as notable features like live betting and live streaming – the latter of which will get you access to more sporting events than any other bookmaker in the country.
Clearly, there is a whole lot to like about Bet365, and they’ve been able to enjoy so much success both in Australia and abroad for a reason. Throughought the rest of this comprehensive Bet365 Australia review, we’ll take a deeper look at all the aforementioned areas and more, to give you a detailed picture of this world-leading betting site.
Given how strong the Bet365 sports betting markets are, it would be inaccurate to claim that racing is the primary focus of Bet365, but you could be forgiven for thinking that way considering the quality of the racing component of their site is. The markets available are much the same as you’ll find everywhere; thoroughbred, harness racing and greyhound betting markets, with win/place and all the standard exotics available to bet on, as well as standard features like horse racing tips and a form guide.
When it comes to value, however, Bet365 really starts to flex their proverbial muscles. A look at the margins for randomly selected local races reveals that they are often right up there with the best when it comes to odds, for most races. For example, at an upcoming first race of the day in Hawkesbury, their margin sits at 130% - other major Australian betting sites are between 129% and 136%.
A quick aside: for those who are unaware, a margin is basically calculated by determining what the percentage likelihood of victory should be if the bookmaker wasn’t making any money, and then adding those numbers together. For example, a $2 runner should theoretically be a 50% chance of winning, a $3 runner a 33% chance of winning and so on – add these numbers up and you’ll also get over 100% because the betting sites need to make money, but basically the lower the total, the better the overall odds.
Moving on from that little lesson in statistics, there are other reasons to like the Bet365 racing platform beyond just the odds. For one, you can watch the racing directly on the desktop site or app thanks to the live streaming they have available, while you can also bet live on certain races, and there are some excellent Bet365 bonuses which make it easier for you to get the best odds.
The Bet365 app has not always been a strength of the bookmaker. In fact, in the past I have been a little hesitant to use it, because although it’s really well laid out, it has had the tendency to glitch a little bit – for example not opening the pages it’s supposed to, or closing for no apparent reason.
Those issues, however, appear to be predominantly a thing of the past. And with those bugs having seemingly been rectified, it’s now a whole lot easier to focus on the positives of this app, of which there are plenty.
Like the website, the Bet365 betting app is entirely unique to this bookmaker, not only through the recognisable yellow and green colours, but also by the layout. It’s similar in many ways to other betting apps, though many pages open as a little pop-up rather than taking you to an entirely new page, which generally makes them really quick to appear, and makes it substantially quicker to scroll back – you simply close the pop up rather than having to reload the previous page.
Available on iOS and Android devices, the Bet365 Australia app is overall really fast and easy to use. It’s been that way for some time, but the tendency to glitch meant it wasn’t really at the quality you’d expect from a betting site like Bet365. But that’s all changed now, and with those issues having been ironed out, it’s now among the best apps in the industry.
As we continue on with this Bet365 review, let’s now take a look at the desktop site offered by this high-quality bookmaker. Decorated in their distinctive green and gold colours and with a charcoal background, the desktop site has a unique design and layout while still retaining enough similarities with other betting sites to ensure you will find it perfectly easy to navigate.
As with most bookies, the list of things you can bet on is on the left-hand side of the home page, with the choice of sports and racing available to the user. Once you click through to a particular league, all upcoming games and their basic markets will be displayed – for tennis betting, for example, you’ll have head-to-head, total games over/under and the games line. The number of total markets available is also displayed, and clicking through to this takes you to all of those markets.
A nice feature of this website is that once you’re on the page for a particular game, different kinds of markets are separated into different tabs to keep things clean. For example, if you’ve followed our AFL tips and want to have a look at an upcoming game, you’ll see tabs for various types of bets such as ‘Popular markets’, ‘Player markets’ and ‘Quarter/half markets’.
Up the top of the page you’ll also find an ‘In-Play’ tab, which allows you to click straight through to the plethora of live betting markets that Bet365 has available. You can also easily deposit and withdraw, check the range of Bet365 bonus bets available, and contact customer support – though the latter could be a little easier to find.
Overall, the Bet365 bookmaker site is a really good one. It’s easy to navigate, fast and looks great – what more could you ask for?
There are plenty of reasons that Bet365 stands out from the crowd, and in this section of this Bet365 Australia review we’ll take a look at a couple of the most notable of them.
It’s not entirely uncommon for betting sites to have live streaming available – particularly among the bigger sites it’s probably become more standard than not to have something available. Generally, however, this is relatively limited, often just to horse racing. Not so with Bet365. Their range of live streaming options is second to none, with over 600,000 events available each year on the platform. They have too many sports to list in its entirety, but among the highlights are Grand Slam tennis matches, major European domestic football league games, NBA games, and racing meetings from around the world. Though you do have to watch it on a limited size screen, even without the whole betting thing that they do so well, Bet365 could just about operate as its own sports streaming channel.
Similar to what they offer with live streaming, Bet365 is far from the only betting site to offer live betting, but they do it just about as well as anyone. Many bookies that do offer live betting markets keep them fairly limited and tend to drop the odds significantly, but while Bet365 certainly does have less live betting markets than they do pre-event markets and the odds are a little less generous, what they do offer is more wide-reaching than most sites and the odds remain right up there with the best. If you’re into live betting, it’s hard to find a better option than Bet365.
Now to the betting markets, where Bet365 truly shines. This bookmaker offers a ridiculous number of sports betting markets, both in terms of how many sports and leagues there are markets for, and how many markets are available for those sports and leagues.
There are regularly more than 30 different sports available to bet on at Bet365, ranging from things like NRL and AFL through to table tennis and European handball, as well as a range of novelties on things like TV shows and politics.
If you do want to bet on something relatively popular – putting the AustralianBettingSites NRL tips to the test, as an example – then you’ll find a mind-boggling number of options to bet on. It’s not at all uncommon to see over 600 Bet365 betting markets available for individual games in plenty of different major leagues, including AFL, NRL, NBA and EPL. Unsurprisingly there are not as many for smaller events, but you’ll still find a decent range relative to most other betting sites.
There are very few betting sites that offer as comprehensive a range of markets for sports bettors as Bet365. If you tend to stick to the basics then that might not be such a big deal, but the more markets the better in my eyes, and it’s certainly safe to say that Bet365 ticks that box.
Given how many similarities there are between different betting sites, the odds are one area which can really make or break a bookmaker. This is certainly not the only thing that makes Bet365, but it is one of them.
We touched on the racing odds available earlier in this Bet365 review, labelling them as some of the best in the industry, and for sports it’s no different. If you’re looking to place a line bet, you’ll find $1.91 odds for both teams for the major sports, which is just about as high a number as you will get with any Australian betting site. Generally the same applies for other major markets like head-to-head, and it extends well beyond that too.
If you’re a player prop bettor, you’ll be well aware of just how much variation there can be in the odds for the same prop market across different betting sites. As a prop bettor myself I regularly scour many websites to find the best odds for a player in a particular statistical category, and very regularly I will find myself winding up at Bet365.
So whatever type of bettor you are, Bet365 will almost certainly have some tasty odds for the market you’ve got your eye on. Whether you’re looking at Bet365 Australia racing markets, common sports betting markets or more obscure ones, you’ll struggle to find many betting sites with better odds than this bookie.
While we can’t discuss specific promotions and betting bonuses available due to Australian rules and regulations, we can tell you that Bet365 typically offers a really unique range of them and has, in the past, had limited time offers which even years down the track, I look back upon fondly, like a parent-of-three remembering the glory days of their youth.
You’ll find plenty of the regular kinds of bonuses and promos with Bet365, the likes of bet boosts and money back. But they have also made a name for coming out with promotions that few other can match. Early payouts have been a feature of their promotion program for some time, and with relatively high maximum payouts this can pay dividends for the savvy punter. Likewise, a long-running racing promo which helps to ensure punters get the best odds, regardless of when they place a bet, can also help to maximise potential winnings.
Signing up with Bet365 is, unsurprisingly, a piece of cake – they wouldn’t exactly want to make it hard for you, would they? This is how it’s done.
Bet365 has just about as comprehensive a selection of payment methods as you will find. Not that it will matter to most, with the majority of punters happy to stick to tried and true methods like debit/credit card, but it’s always nice to have the option!
There are no less than 11 deposit options at Bet365 at the time of writing this Bet365 review, a list that includes; debit card, credit card, Apple Pay, PayPal, Google Pay, PayID, Bet365 Mastercard, paysafecard, Flexepin, Click to pay and bank transfer. While all of these will get money into your Bet365 account, there are certain differences between each of them.
The majority of those methods have a minimum deposit of $10, though there are some exceptions, with Flexepin only requiring a minimum of $1 and Bet365 Mastercard just $5, while larger sums are required for PayPal ($50) and bank transfer ($200). All of those methods are instantaneous except bank transfer, which will take usually a business day or two. Bet365 withdrawals will always take at least a few hours and often a couple of days.
Bet365 offers all three of the most common customer support options for punters; live chat, a phone number and an email address. Live chat is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, which is always a big tick in my book given that I consider this to be generally the simplest way to get into contact with a betting site.
On the whole I have found the Bet365 customer support agents to be relatively helpful and the platform decent enough, though they do hide it away a little bit on the desktop site. Following relevant prompts through My Account does get you there, but it’s not quite as straightforward as having a pop-up live chat bubble like many new betting sites do these days. Still, that’s only a very minor gripe, and overall Bet365’s customer service is very good.
As we near the end of our comprehensive Bet365 Australia review, let’s round things off by taking a look at some frequently asked questions about the site.
Yep. Bet365 is one of the biggest sites in the world and its Australian platform is licensed with the Northern Territory Racing and Wagering Commission.
Briton Denise Coates is the founder and majority shareholder of Bet365.
No – at least not the Australian version of the site. You won’t be able to access the AU version from abroad, though you may be able to join the relevant international Bet365 and use that – for example, the British version if you are in the UK.
No. Bet365 is majority owned in Britain, where it was founded.
It does! This is another great feature of Bet365, with the cash out option enabling you to opt out of your bet and receive a sum of money determined by the live odds of that bet.
James is a sports writer, editor and published author from Melbourne, Australia. He has close to a decade of experience in the writing industry, but his love for sports started long before that. The MCG was James’ favourite place in the world growing up (and probably still is), somewhere he would head most weekends to watch his beloved Tigers throughout the colder months, as well as every Boxing Day for the cricket. When he wasn’t watching footy or cricket, it was a safe bet he was either playing them, or watching something else – be it the surfing, the NBA, EPL, NRL or anything else he could find on the family TV. As the publisher of a book titled Sport’s Greatest Statistical Anomalies, it’s no surprise that statistics play a big role in James’ love of sports, and his love of numbers lends itself nicely to punting. Scouring the stats is something James finds a whole lot more fun than most people, so if you’re looking for some in-depth analysis for an upcoming game in all manner of sports, he’s your guy.
