AFL 2025 Finals Week Two – Betting Tips, Odds & Predictions
Take a look at our expert AFL tips and match previews for both games set to take place in week two of the finals series, which kicks off on Friday night.
The Hawks have not historically been one of the biggest clubs in the league, but with so much success over the past 50 years and a period of complete dominance last decade, they’ve well and truly joined that category. Despite not winning a flag until 1961, the Hawks now sit just a couple of Premierships behind the most successful teams in VFL/AFL history. And after a few years of rebuilding in recent times, they’re working their way back into the Premiership mix.

The Hawks were founded soon after the beginning of the then-VFL, but it wasn’t until 1925 that they joined the league. They were horrendously unsuccessful for a good 30 years thereafter, incredibly failing to make the finals until 1957, before winning their inaugural flag four years later. They quickly returned to the bottom of the ladder after that, but when they broke through for their second flag in 1971 it marked the beginning of an amazing turnaround. They ultimately went on to win eight Premierships between then and 1991, and while they struggled for over a decade thereafter, they returned to their glory days with three consecutive flags in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
Many Hawthorn games throughout the season can be found on Channel 7 or 7Mate, while every single one of their games is broadcast live on Foxtel and Kayo. If you’re looking to catch the Hawthorn game today from abroad, you’ll need to sign up with Watch AFL.

Below are some of the most frequently asked questions about the Hawks.
The Hawks play their home games at the MCG.
The Hawks are a well-balanced team with plenty of good players, chief among them Will Day, Jai Newcombe, Tom Barrass, Dylan Moore and Jack Ginnivan.
The Hawthorn betting odds for this year’s Brownlow Medal will be interesting with a couple of their leading vote-getters from last year missing a lot of games in 2025. Though his form has been a little down on last year, it would be no surprise to see Jai Newcombe installed as their favourite with betting sites, while Josh Weddle could be a smoky.
The Hawks last won the flag in 2015 when they beat the Eagles by 46 points.
Jason Dunstall leads the way in goals for the Hawks with 1254.
There are plenty of the game’s absolute elite to have donned the brown and gold, but with Leigh Matthews widely regarded as one of the best couple of players ever, he has to get the nod.
