AFL 2025 Multi Bet of the Week – Preliminary Finals

We’ve been going close fairly regularly with our AFL multi bets of late, but last week was, it’s safe to say, an unwanted exception. All three of our AFL multi tips missed, two of them pretty comfortably, but that’s bound to happen from time to time and at least it means the only way is up this weekend! This week’s AFL multi bet kicks off with a single player prop in the Cats vs Hawks game and then a couple of bets in the Magpies vs Lions game – to place it, you’ll need to create a same game multi for the second game and add it to your betslip, and combine that with the single bet from the first game. Take a look at the three bets below.

Multi Bet of the Week

19th of September, 7.40pm AEST, MCG

Jai Newcombe has enjoyed an unbelievable start to his finals career, with his brilliant performance in Hawthorn’s defeat of the Crows’ last weekend making it his fourth final out of four which he ended as the number one ranked player. He picked up 28 disposals in the performance, which incidentally was the lowest tally he’s compiled in any of those four finals. He is showing in no uncertain terms that he is custom-built for September, and while betting sites have adjusted to an extent, he is still great value to pick up 25+ touches this weekend with some bookies. New betting site EliteBet, for example, is offering better than even money for him to get there – despite having cleared it comfortably in all his other four finals – which looks even better when contrasted with the $1.65 on offer with Bet365. Anywhere you can get him at even money or close to it for 25+ touches looks like great value.

Speaking of players who are custom-built for September, Kai Lohmann has excelled in his finals career to date and continued that trend last weekend. After booting nine goals in last year’s finals series, the 22-year-old booted three goals in the Lions’ thumping defeat of the Suns last weekend, backing up the two that he kicked the week prior. Not exactly one to shy away from attention, the newly shaved, enigmatic youngster thrives under the bright lights of finals, and will embrace the hostile environment he and his team will face on Saturday evening at the MCG. Lohmann has kicked at least two goals in five of his six finals appearances to date, as well as for the last four games, but you can still get much better than even money for him to hit that number again this weekend – value that’s hard to pass up.

After a couple of player props, we round out our AFL multi bet with a weather-related unders bet. Even not withstanding the potential rain, the total set by betting apps of around 164.5 would look high given that none of the Magpies’ last six games have yielded more than 158 points – including a clash against the Lions. And with the weather factored in, the under looks even more appealing. The forecast for Saturday in Melbourne is showers increasing, and while we’re still a fair way out from the match and there’s no guarantee it will be wet, it sounds more likely than not that at least part of the game will be affected by inclement weather. If that continues to look likely to be the case as we near the game, expect this line to drop significantly. As it stands, under 164.5 total match points looks like a great bet.
