AFL 2025 Round 19 – Betting Tips, Odds & Predictions

AFL 2025 Round 19
Only six rounds remain in the 2025 AFL home and away season, but still just a game separates the Cats in 4th from the Bulldogs outside the top 8. Many of the breakaway top 9 teams face one another this weekend, while the Swans and Power will try to keep their very slim finals hopes alive against the Kangaroos and Hawks respectively. The round kicks off on Thursday night when the Bombers host the Giants, while other highlights will see the Lions host the Dogs, the Magpies face the Dockers at the MCG, and the Suns head to Adelaide to take on the Crows in the last game of the weekend. Below, take a look at the previews and AFL tips from Australianbettingsites’ resident footy expert for all nine games this weekend.

Match Analysis
The Bombers’ season unravelled even further last Saturday night, their sixth consecutive loss coming against the 17th placed Tigers in a game for which the term ‘ugly’ would be a euphemism. Making matters far, far worse, Nic Martin and Will Setterfield both suffered season-ending injuries, joining an already unfairly long injury list.
The Giants, meanwhile, won their fourth game on the trot, the ever-improving Aaron Cadman booting six en route to a 26-point win. They are still only in 7th place, but with three of those four wins coming against fellow top 8 teams it’s safe to say that they are beginning to make their presence known. The Giants haven’t played to their potential for large portions of the year, but they are beginning to at the right time.
Having said that, the nature of the ladder means that while they are establishing themselves as genuine Premiership contenders, they could still feasibly miss the finals, particularly given their relatively poor percentage. But this Thursday night is a good chance to lock themselves away further inside the 8. The Bombers are vulnerable thanks in no small part to their injury list, and the in-form Giants should be able to take advantage with a comfortable win.
Expert Tip
Giants -43.5 @ $1.91 with Bet365
Most teams wouldn’t deal well with an injury list like that of the Bombers, while the Giants are coming into some excellent form.

Match Analysis
Though Thursday night’s game might not be the most enthralling round-opener we’ve had this season, there is every chance that Friday’s will make up for it. The Lions and the Dogs find themselves firmly entrenched in the Premiership hunt, but while the reigning Premiers are firming their own case over recent weeks, plenty of question marks were raised about the Dogs after last weekend’s defeat.
For Brisbane, three consecutive wins have just been enough to keep the surging Crows at bay and hold onto second, but a gap of a game-and-a-half has now opened up to the chasing pack and a spot in the top 4 is theirs for the taking. They would, however, love to hold onto 2nd and potentially be able to make their way into another Grand Final without having to leave the Gabba, but they can likely only lose a game or two in the run home if they’re to do so.
The Bulldogs, on the other hand, somehow find themselves out of the top 8 after last week’s 11-point loss to the Crows. Prior to that they’d won four on the trot, but this five-week patch has been symptomatic of their season; they have beaten up on teams outside the 8, and struggled against teams in it. Clearly, that’s a major concern for the Premiership ambitions of this talented team, but while their record against top 8 teams is far from ideal, a lot of those games have gone down to the wire, so it’s not as though they aren’t capable. This might just be another case of the same. The forecast rain won’t do the Dogs any favours, but they should still be able to take it right up to the Lions. In a tight tussle, however, the home side might just force the Dogs into another close loss.
Expert Tip
Lions to win by 1-39 @ $2.10 with Bet365
The Dogs have consistently challenged the top teams without being able to beat them very often this season.
Alternative Bets to Consider

- Marcus Bontempelli to record 30+ disposals @ $4.50 with Bet365
Hawthorn Hawks vs Port Adelaide Power – Prediction & Best Bet
- Hawthorn Hawks

- Port Adelaide Power

- Date: Saturday, 19th of July
- First bounce: 1.20pm AEST
- Venue: University of Tasmania Stadium, Launceston
- Broadcast info: Channel Seven (SA), Fox Footy
Match Analysis
The Hawks had a four-game winning streak snapped last weekend, but they were far from disgraced against the Dockers. In fact, their 13-point loss could easily have gone the other way; it was a tight game and one in which the Hawks had the upper-hand for the first three quarters, but the home side kept themselves in it with some very accurate goalkicking before turning the tide and running away with it in the final quarter.
The next day, the Power were made to work a little harder than they would have liked at home against the Eagles, but they flicked a switch in the final quarter to win by 26 points and keep their very slim finals hopes alive. But three games and percentage out of the 8 with six weeks left, they would need absolutely everything to go right, beginning with a win this weekend.
Unfortunately for the Power, they face a Hawthorn team in good form despite last weekend’s loss, and which has been quite literally unbeatable at their home away from home in Tasmania for years. The Hawks have played at least four games a year in Launceston since 2021, and have won their last nine games there. The Power are 2-5 interstate this season anyway, and up against a good team with a distinct home ground advantage, any finals hopes they might be holding onto will likely be snuffed out this Saturday.
Expert Tip
Hawks -29.5 @ $1.90 with PlayUp
The Hawks seem to grow an extra couple of legs in Tasmania, and the Power generally lose them away from home.

Sydney Swans vs North Melbourne Kangaroos – Prediction & Best Bet
- Sydney Swans

- North Melbourne Kangaroos

- Date: Saturday, 19th of July
- First bounce: 4.15pm AEST
- Venue: SCG, Sydney
- Broadcast info: 7Mate (NSW), Fox Footy
Match Analysis
Like the Power, the Swans find themselves three games outside of the top 8, but they look likely to move to within two this weekend. They have finally found some form over the past few weeks with four wins from their last five games, with Brodie Grundy and Errol Gulden combining for a brilliant, game-winning goal last weekend to keep their season alive. Those two have been catalysts for their form, Gulden’s return having a massive impact and Grundy playing as well as he ever has, and at home against the Kangaroos they’ll be confident in their ability to notch up another win.
The Kangas have, of course, had their moments this season and their improvement, while agonisingly slow for long-suffering North fans, is clearly there. But they’ve been a little less impressive over the past few weeks, losing three in a row relatively comfortably against the Hawks, the Bulldogs and the Demons.
The young Roos have plenty of talented kids running around and have shown an ability to be competitive against superior teams this year, but on the tight confines of the SCG against a more battle-hardened outfit, this should be an easy win for the home team.
Expert Tip
Swans -39.5 @ $1.91 with Bet365
The Swans are finally playing some decent footy under Dean Cox, and at home against a Roos team beginning to struggle they should win easily.
Alternative Bets to Consider
- Tom Powell to record 25+ disposals @ $1.87 with Bet365
- Jack Buller to kick 2+ goals @ $2.65 with Bet365

- Lions vs Bulldogs under 172.5 total match points @ $1.89 with EliteBet – The Doggies aren’t typically one for low-scoring games, but rain is forecast throughout Friday and betting sites have not adjusted the line enough to cater for it.
- Hawks vs Power under 153.5 total match points @ $1.89 with EliteBet – This line has been adjusted to cater for the miserable weather forecast in Launceston on Saturday, but even so: showers all day and strong winds mean it wouldn’t be surprising to see a very low-scoring game.
- Giants -43.5 @ $1.91 with Bet365 – The Giants are coming off a very strong win against a Cats team which is a hell of a lot better than the Bombers at the best of times, let alone with their horrendous injury list. There is a huge class gap between the two teams that will run out on Thursday night.

Carlton Blues vs Melbourne Demons – Prediction & Best Bet
- Carlton Blues

- Melbourne Demons

- Date: Saturday, 19th of July
- First bounce: 7.35pm AEST
- Venue: MCG, Melbourne
- Broadcast info: Fox Footy
Match Analysis
The Blues and the Demons have both had seasons they would likely rather forget, and while one of them will chalk up a win this weekend, it will be too little, too late for whoever it is. The Blues have lost four on the trot to fall to 6-11, and with a loss to North followed by three heavy defeats it’s probably been a worse month than even a 0-4 record would indicate.
The Demons, meanwhile, finally got back on the winners’ list last weekend, but they only beat the Roos and had lost five in a row prior to that. That string of results has taken their record to a relatively miserable 6-11, placing them right alongside the Blues in AFL purgatory.
At the beginning of the season this game could have loomed as a potentially important one, but instead it’s little more than a battle for bragging rights among two teams with little to brag about. The Blues are impossible to tip at the moment, and while the Demons don’t inspire confidence as comfortable favourites on the betting apps, they can knock off their struggling opposition to pile even more pressure onto Michael Voss and his chargers.
Expert Tip
Demons to win by 1-39 @ $2.10 with Bet365
It doesn’t feel particularly good to tip either of these teams, but it should be close and the Dees’ form is a little better.
Alternative Bets to Consider

- Kysaiah Pickett to record 20+ disposals @ $1.87 with Bet365
West Coast Eagles vs Richmond Tigers – Prediction & Best Bet
- West Coast Eagles

- Richmond Tigers

- Date: Saturday, 19th of July
- First bounce: 8.10pm AEST
- Venue: Optus Stadium, Perth
- Broadcast info: Channel Seven (VIC, SA), 7Mate (NSW, QLD, WA), Fox Footy
Match Analysis
If ever there was a game that was going to make Carlton vs Melbourne look like a blockbuster, it’s this one. The Eagles and the Tigers currently occupy the bottom two spots on the ladder as they have all year, though with Richmond winning last week they have raced three games clear of West Coast to likely resign them to this season’s Wooden Spoon.
And in fairness, it would be well-deserved. The Eagles have been a little more competitive in Andrew McQualter’s first season than they have over the past couple of years, but that isn’t saying much and they still find themselves with a pretty meagre 1-16 record. The Tigers, on the other hand, have actually outperformed expectations in a season which was never going to yield all that many wins. Their defeat of the Bombers last Saturday night was not pretty, but it broke an extended losing streak and gave them something to cheer about in Nick Vlastuin’s 250th game.
Incredibly, the highest score either of these teams has managed in the last five weeks is 61, so don’t expect too many goals in this one. One saving grace is that it will very possibly be close, but it’s impossible to justify betting on the Eagles as favourites, and at decent odds the Tigers look like value away from home.
Expert Tip
Tigers to win @ $2.18 with Bet365
Not that the Tigers are exactly world beaters, but anytime you get a team at better than even money against the Eagles, it’s hard to ignore.
Alternative Bets to Consider
- Tigers 1-39 @ $2.50 with PlayUp
- Under 162.5 total match points @ $1.89 with EliteBet
Geelong Cats vs St. Kilda Saints – Prediction & Best Bet
- Geelong Cats

- St. Kilda Saints

- Date: Sunday, 20th of July
- First bounce: 1.10pm AEST
- Venue: GMHBA Stadium, Geelong
- Broadcast info: Fox Footy
Match Analysis
The Cats are hanging onto a top 4 spot by the skin of their teeth after losing two of their last three games, with only percentage separating them from the Dockers way down in 8th spot. Indicative of how tight the ladder is, they could mathematically find themselves outside the top 8 by the end of this weekend. At home against the Saints, however, they’ll be confident in their ability to hang onto their spot in the 4 for at least another week.
The Saints were actually quite good against the Swans last weekend, but a bit of Errol Gulden magic resigned them to another defeat; their fifth in a row. They’ve been generally relatively competitive during a tough draw in that time, but once again they remain a tier or two behind the top 8.
There is plenty riding on this game for the Cats and very little for the Saints, but even notwithstanding that fact the home side would likely be far too good. The record between these two teams at this venue is, to put it lightly, pretty lopsided; the Saints last won in Geelong in 1999, the Cats boasting a 12-0 record against them there since. They should be able to make that 13-0 pretty comfortably.
Expert Tip
Cats -33.5 @ $1.91 with Bet365
Though the Saints have been competitive, their run of losses must be getting to them and the Cats can take advantage in Geelong.
Alternative Bets to Consider
- Jeremy Cameron to kick 4+ goals @ $1.95 with Bet365
- Cats to win by 40+ @ $2.20 with PlayUp
Collingwood Magpies vs Fremantle Dockers – Prediction & Best Bet
- Collingwood Magpies

- Fremantle Dockers

- Date: Sunday, 20th of July
- First bounce: 3.15pm AEST
- Venue: MCG, Melbourne
- Broadcast info: Channel Seven (VIC, WA), 7Mate (NSW), Fox Footy
Match Analysis
The AFL has saved the best for last this weekend, with two of the more consequential matchups taking place on Sunday afternoon, beginning with this one. The Magpies, of course, sit clear on top of the ladder, and while they suffered a rare loss at the hands of the Suns last weekend, they’re still a game-and-a-half clear and wouldn’t have lost too many fans in that nine-point loss – a game they probably should have won.
The Dockers are precariously placed down in 8th, and with the worst percentage of the top 9 teams they will likely need an extra win to make the finals – or potentially the top 4. They are 7-1 in their last eight games and have beaten some good teams in that time, but this is probably the toughest trip in footy and will be a massive test for the boys in purple.
As they have shown over the past couple of months, the Dockers are a very capable team and one that will make it difficult for the Magpies to manufacture the free-flowing ball movement which makes them so dangerous. It would be no surprise to see the visitors be reasonably competitive in this game, but it’s impossible to tip against the Magpies at home.
Expert Tip
Magpies to win by 1-39 @ $2.00 with PlayUp
I like the Dockers’ chances of avoiding a blowout here, but not of actually winning the game.
Alternative Bets to Consider
- Josh Daicos to record 30+ disposals @ $2.15 with Bet365
- Shai Bolton to kick 2+ goals @ $2.90 with Bet365
Adelaide Crows vs Gold Coast Suns – Prediction & Best Bet
- Adelaide Crows

- Gold Coast Suns

- Date: Sunday, 20th of July
- First bounce: 4.40pm AEST
- Venue: Adelaide Oval, Adelaide
- Broadcast info: Channel Seven (SA), 7Mate (QLD), Fox Footy
Match Analysis
Round 18 was a good one for both of these teams. The Crows continued their push for a top 4 spot with an excellent win in a pulsating game against the Bulldogs, with 11 goals from their trio of talls highlighting just how dangerous this team can be in full flight.
The Suns enjoyed a pivotal victory of their own in what some had dubbed the biggest game in the club’s history, holding off a fast-finishing Collingwood up on the Gold Coast. The Magpies could very easily have won that game and looked for all money set to do so when they snatched the lead late in the last, but the Suns showed plenty of character to respond with two goals of their own and run out nine-point victors.
With both of these teams locked in the logjam from 2nd to 9th, this is a game which will have huge repercussions both for each of them, as well as the teams around them. But while the Suns are in the midst of the best season in their short history, the Crows are looking like a genuine Premiership contender. With a 7-1 record at home this year, they will be extremely tough to beat.
Expert Tip
Crows -15.5 @ $1.90 with PlayUp
The Crows are on a different level to the Suns, particularly in Adelaide.
Alternative Bets to Consider
- Over 173.5 total match points @ $1.89 with EliteBet
- Daniel Curtin to record 25+ disposals @ $6.50 with Bet365
AFL Round 19 Player Props & Try Scorer Markets
- Marcus Bontempelli to record 30+ disposals @ $4.50 with Bet365 – Bontempelli’s status as probably the most damaging player in the game is not always a result of disposal accumulation, but he’s had a couple of huge games of late, picking up 37 last week and 36 three weeks earlier. It’s an outside chance, but at $4.50 looks like great value.
- Daniel Curtin to record 25+ disposals @ $6.50 with Bet365 – Similar to Bontempelli, this is an outside chance but one which looks like great value. Dan Curtin is making his presence known in his second season in the league, and after picking up 25+ touches for the first time in his career three weeks ago, he did it again last week.
- Kysaiah Pickett to record 20+ disposals @ $1.87 with Bet365 – Though it’s been a miserable season for the Dees, Pickett has been a standout. Increased midfield time means he’s getting more footy than ever before, and he’s picked up at least 20 touches in his last three games.
