West Coast Eagles Betting Tips, Odds & Best Bets

The Eagles are the biggest non-Victorian club and one of the biggest in the AFL, regularly boasting the largest membership tally in the league. A lack of success in recent years – to putu it lightly – has seen those tallies taken a bit of a hit, but in 2023 their 103,498 members was still the fourth most in the league. Since joining the AFL in 1987, the Eagles have been the powerhouse of the West, have played finals far more often than not and picked up a few flags along the way. Recent years, however, have not been kind to them, and a second Wooden Spoon in three years is on the cards in 2025.

History of the West Coast Eagles

The Eagles were formed in 1986 as one of two expansion teams that were to join the AFL the following season. It didn’t take them long to get going; they made their first finals appearance in 1988, their first Grand Final two years after that, and won their first flag in 1992. They backed that up with another in 1994, while this century they’ve picked up two more – the first in a titanic tussle with the Swans in 2006, and the next in another incredible game against the Magpies in 2018. In recent years they’ve been borderline uncompetitive, but they remain one of the biggest clubs in the AFL.

FAQs About the West Coast Eagles

Below are some of the most frequently asked questions about the West Coast Eagles.

The Eagles play their home games at Optus Stadium in Perth.

There is a notable lack of standouts on the Eagles list at the moment. 2024 best and fairest winner Jeremy McGovern has retired while the next two, Elliot Yeo and Jake Waterman, both have long-term injuries.

Don’t expect the Eagles to be polling many votes this year. Perhaps Harley Reid will pick up a few, but West Coast odds will likely show no clear favourite to lead them on Brownlow night with betting sites.

The Eagles last won the Premiership in 2018, when a Dom Sheed goal sunk the Pies by five points.

Josh Kennedy has kicked the most goals for the Eagles with 712.

The Eagles have had plenty of stars in their ranks. Chris Judd is hard to go past, though he played just half his career there, while for longevity combined with brilliance Peter Matera is hard to go past.
