EPL 2025/26 Multibet of the Week - MD2

While champions Liverpool were made to work hard by Bournemouth to prevail in their season opener, it is Manchester City who sit top of the tree following their romp on the road at Wolves.

The blues will be looking to continue that good start as they welcome Tottenham this weekend, who too got off to a flyer against newly promoted Burnley. The big games line up, with West Ham and Chelsea looking to bounce back from poor showings when they meet on Friday evening, while Newcastle host Liverpool in a whopper at St James's Park for Monday Night Football.

London derbies between West Ham and Chelsea rarely need any introduction and these two Premier League giants will be bang up for this one on Friday evening.

Graham Potter is arguably the Premier League manager under the most pressure currently and following the Hammers' tame 3-0 loss to Sunderland last weekend, he and his side are seriously under the pump. They are sure to be up for this one though, against a Chelsea side who were also slow out of the blocks against Crystal Palace last weekend. The blues had to settle for a draw and their manager Enzo Maresca is having to fend questions about his squad selection and personnel once again.

West Ham look low on confidence though and if Chelsea manage to find any sort of momentum, they should prevail in this one across the capital.

Etihad Stadium, 23rd August, 20.30

Two sides who enjoyed opening weekend victories clash here in East Manchester, as City take on Tottenham - in what feels like a very significant game for both clubs.

Much was made of City's relative struggles last season but Pep Guardiola has shuffled the pack, as he so often does and they looked more assured and dangerous against Wolves on the opening day. There are vulnerabilities within the City squad though, which Tottenham will be eager to exploit.

Spurs appeared transformed too against Burnley, showing resilience and attacking flair in equal measure and Thomas Frank has enjoyed some success against City over the years, during his time at Brentford.

Picking a winner here is not easy, as both sides will be feeling confident but goals feel guaranteed, regardless of the result.

St James's Park, 26th August, 04.00

Newcastle United and Liverpool have played out some all-time Premier League classics over the years and this one feels as if it will be another.

The fascinating backdrop is the future of star Toon striker Alexander Isak, who has stated he wants to leave Newcastle and join Liverpool in this transfer window. A deal doesn't look likely to be struck before the game but it could add to the tensions between the two sets of players on the field.

Newcastle are chasing a first win of the campaign, having picked up a point at Aston Villa on the opening day, while Liverpool went through the mill to beat Bournemouth in their opener. Champions Liverpool are a tough side to beat though and they could well rise to the occasion and prevail in this one at St James's Park.
