After more than six months consisting of 27 rounds and three weeks of finals, just two teams remain in the hunt for the 2025 NRL Premiership. The Storm, as most expected and as has appeared likely all season long, charged into their second consecutive Grand Final with a solid eight-point defeat of the Sharks in their Preliminary Final. The Broncos, meanwhile, did it a bit tougher but ultimately overcame a 14-0 half-time deficit to secure a second straight win by a single score, ending the Panthers dynasty with an unforgettable 16-14 win. The Storm and Broncos will clash this Sunday evening for the chance at Premiership glory, and below, we’ll take a look at how the NRL Premiership betting market is shaping up in the lead-up to the game.

Latest Odds: NRL Premiership Futures
As the below odds show, the Storm head into the Grand Final as the favourites to become the first team not called the Panthers to win a Premiership since they won it in 2020, but betting sites don’t have them separated by all that much.
Top Contenders
Melbourne Storm
It’s been yet another impressive year for the most consistent Premiership threat in Australian sports, with the Storm locking themselves into the top four early in the season and refusing to budge ever since. With the Bulldogs faltering late, they were able to jump into the top two and secure a home Qualifying Final, meaning they have been able to waltz into the Grand Final without having to leave AAMI Park.
Both victories have been by eight points, first against the Bulldogs and then the Sharks, and though they were challenged in each of them to some extent – particularly their Qualifying Final – they looked in control throughout the majority of both games. They also enjoyed the return of Ryan Papenhuyzen and Jahrome Hughes for the Preliminary Final, giving them virtually a full squad to choose from – something which has been relatively rare over the past couple of seasons with numerous mid-long-term injuries to key players.
Of course, they will have to leave the comfort of Melbourne for the Grand Final, but for a team of their quality and with as much experience in big games as they have, that isn’t likely to be too big of a problem. In their last ten games at Accor Stadium, the Storm have won seven, and two of those three losses have come to the Panthers.
There’s also the small matter of their dominant record against the Broncos. Long-term historic results aren’t always that relevant when it comes to team matchups, but when that history is as one-sided as it’s been between these two teams it’s hard to ignore. The Broncos have begun to swing the ledger back in their favour a little with two wins from the last five games between the two, but prior to that they had won just four of the previous 35.
But more important than any of this is simply how damn good the Storm are. They have played the season perfectly, never seeming to extend themselves too much but always looking likely to enter the finals well-poised to go deep into the finals yet again, and that’s exactly what they’ve done. With a top-end consisting of the likes of Cameron Munster, Ryan Papenhuyzen and Harry Grant to name just a few, and depth and professionalism as good as any team in the league, they are a Premiership-worthy team in every sense of the word and deserve to be favourites for this week’s game.

Brisbane Broncos
The Broncos have barely put a foot wrong since the halfway point of the season, and though things could very easily have gone differently this finals series, they have pulled through when it’s mattered most to make their way through to a second Grand Final in three years. At 5-7 12 games into the year, that looked a long way outside the realms of possibility, but this talented albeit enigmatic team pulled it together over the back half of the season and managed to steal the spot of the stumbling Warriors on the eve of the finals.
In both of their finals to date, they’d have been paying close to double figures to win with live betting sites, having gone down by big margins in each of them. First, they found themselves down 28-12 against the Raiders with 15 minutes to go, only to tie the game up in the 80th minute and then win it with a Ben Hunt field goal in the 93rd. That was remarkable enough; then two weeks later, they found themselves 14-0 down at half-time against a Panthers team looking for a fifth straight Premiership and remained eight points in arrears with just over ten minutes to go, but consecutive tries and a clutch Adam Reynolds conversion in the 76th minute saw them sneak ahead 16-14 before holding on for an incredible win.
So it’s safe to say that it’s been a memorable few weeks. Two years ago, they lost the Grand Final in almost unbelievable fashion to the Panthers, but if they manage to get the job done on Sunday against the Storm it will be just as hard to fathom given the positions in which they’ve found themselves in their two finals to date.
Given their last three games have yielded victories against the Panthers, Raiders, and the Storm in the last round of the regular season, the Broncos have good reason to feel confident heading into this game. That win over the Storm, however, was in a game of minimal consequence for their opposition and with a couple of absentees too, and their opposition will likely provide a far sterner test this weekend.
There is no denying how impressive the Broncos have been over the back half of the season and if they do end up victorious on Sunday, it will be a finals run which will go down in NRL folklore. But impressive as those comebacks have been, the Broncos have found themselves in such dire straits twice in a row, and the Storm are not a team that will let them back into the game if they do that again. The Broncos are absolutely a chance in this one, but the Storm have been the more robust, consistent and reliable team all season long, and on the biggest stage might prove too strong for their more erratic opponents.

NRL Premiership Winner Predictions
With the Grand Finalists decided, the NRL Premiership betting market is now, of course, simply a punt on who will get the job done on Sunday evening. There is plenty to like about both teams – the Storm have been fantastic all year, while the Broncos are in sparkling form and enter this game on the back of a couple of remarkable wins.
But as impressive as the Broncos have been, the Storm are a more trustworthy team and are primed to secure yet another Premiership. There is not much separating the two in terms of odds on the betting apps, but while that’s understandable to some extent given the form of the Broncos, I think the Storm look like solid value to secure their first Premiership since 2020. The Broncos won’t likely make it easy, so if you’re placing a match bet the Storm by 1-12 market provides more value, but as far as pure head-to-head goes, the Storm look like a more reliable pick.
Expert Betting Tips: NRL Premiership Market
As far as futures go, this one is a pretty straightforward market, but below are a couple of NRL Premiership betting tips to follow as you scout out the candidates.
- Defence wins Premierships: A good offence helps too, but in the last nine years every Premier has had a top three defence, and five of those the best in the league.
- Factor in finals experience: Finals footy is a whole different ball game, and teams like the Storm and Panthers, that have been there plenty of times before, generally rise to the challenge better than teams that have not.
