South Sydney Rabbitohs Betting Tips, Odds & Best Bets

The Rabbitohs are the oldest and most successful club in the history of top-flight rugby in Australia. Formed in 1908, they have won a record 21 Premierships in their history, though they have not been the force they were earlier in their existence for a long time now. But despite a relative lack of success which has seen them win just one Premiership in the past 55 years, they remain one of the biggest clubs in the league, boasting a membership base which rivals every other team in the NRL with the exception of the Broncos, and a passion which arguably trumps them all.

History of the South Sydney Rabbitohs

The Rabbitohs were formed following a meeting at Redfern Town Hall in early 1908, right in the middle of the formerly working class heartland of this famous club. That same year they won their inaugural Premiership in the New South Wales Rugby League, setting the tone for what would become the dominant force in Australian rugby over the next 60+ years. Between 1908 and 1971, the Bunnies won an incredible 20 Premierships, which included five in as many years in the 1920s, five in six years in the ‘50s, and four in five years between 1967 and 1971. But since then, the success has dried up. It would be 43 long years before they captured that elusive 21st flag, and when they did, the streets of South Sydney were painted red, green and white in one of the most emphatic celebrations in recent memory.
