About AustralianBettingSites

Welcome to AustralianBettingSites! We’re a hand-picked team of sports betting and racing experts that offer detailed bookmaker reviews to help you decide where to deposit your hard-earned. Our multiple weekly betting tips cover major sports leagues like the AFL, NRL and NBA, and we’re dedicated to helping you find your next winner.

Our Mission

At AustralianBettingSites we aim to provide punters with accurate, up-to-date information about betting in Australia, be that by walking you through the pros and cons of different Aussie bookies or dishing out our experts’ tips. We want to make it easier for you not just to bet, but to bet well, and hopefully a bit more profitably.

What We Do

In order to achieve this goal, we focus on a few different areas. Here’s what we have to offer in pursuit of helping you find the smarter bet:

Expert Betting Tips

tipOur experts employ their considerable experience as well as constant in-depth research to provide you with betting tips on a wide range of sports, covering homegrown leagues like the AFL and NRL as well as major global competitions such as the NBA and EPL. Throughout the course of those leagues’ respective seasons you’ll find weekly tips from our expert punters, each of whom carries with them a lifetime of knowledge about the sport, and plenty of betting nous to go with it.

Many of our experts are racing fanatics, and so we also offer horse racing tips, particularly for major events, so if you’re after Melbourne Cup betting advice, we can help.

Use these tips any way you wish. If you’re looking to place a bet on a sport you don’t know well, maybe they’ll lead you in the right direction. If you’re just after another perspective on something you’re already well-versed in, then the valuable insights from our team will serve you well. Whether you’re just starting out or are a seasoned punter, we reckon our expert betting tips are well and truly worth checking out.

Bookmaker Reviews

There is a sea of bookies available to Aussie punters, but considerably fewer bookies you’ll actually want to trust with your money. One of our primary purposes is to help you sift through the seemingly endless choice of betting sites in Australia to find the one that best suits you. We can’t claim to have covered every single bookie in the country, but we’ve given it a pretty good crack, and we’re not done—our reviews are up-to-date and constantly being updated and re-checked by our dedicated factcheckers. The detailed bookmaker reviews you will find on the site should give you a fairly well-rounded idea of what they each have to offer. Among the factors that we consider when looking into a betting site are:

variety

The Range of Markets

This is one of the most important things that we look at when it comes to sports betting, and with some betting sites only offering a really basic range and others offering just about anything you could think of, there is a fair bit of variance in this respect. Maybe you’re only interested in racing to begin with, but you’ll still want to know what you’re signing up for.

odds

Odds

Equally important are the odds on offer. Different odds may not look massively different at first glance, but making money punting isn’t easy, and there’s no point making it even harder for yourself by consistently accepting subpar odds.

Apps, Bonuses, Customer Support & More

Markets and odds might be the two most important factors that we consider, but they’re only scratching the surface. With so many top shelf sportsbooks, we need to be really picky if we’re to pick out the best—which means assess everything from the quality of bookmaker’s betting apps (if they’ve got one), their desktop site, any betting bonuses they may offer, their customer support, variety of payment options, and pretty  much anything else you could possibly care about. We said “comprehensive”, and we meant it!

‘Best of’ Betting Guides

Finally, rather than separate examinations of different betting sites, we also take a look at which of them might be best for a punter looking for something in particular. These guides single out a specific element to find the top bookies per category. Looking for the best new betting sites? The best bookies with the best bonuses? Top sports betting apps? We’ve got you covered.

Why AustralianBettingSites?

Our Values

There is no shortage of betting-related content out there that is, to put it nicely, not necessarily the best advice. Think AI-generated betting tips, or random insights from people who have probably never watched the sport they’re covering. That’s not us.

We pride ourselves on giving punters information that is actually useful, be it through our bookmaker reviews, our NRL tips, AFL tips tips or whatever it may be. Every single review or piece of advice that we put out on the site is the product of research and analysis from people in the know, so while we won’t get every single tip right, you can be sure that there was plenty of reasoning behind it rather than AI slop.

As a bunch of punters ourselves, we measure success by the degree to which we give punters the best information available, allowing you to place informed bets on high-quality betting sites. We aim to provide you with actual value, and our experts won’t give you any advice they wouldn’t want to take themselves.

Why AustralianBettingSites?

There are plenty of places to get tips and info about different bookies, so why choose AustralianBettingSites as your go-to source of intel?  Here’s what we pride ourselves on the most:

Our Transparency

You’ll notice that we tend to give out not just plenty of information, but plenty of reasoning – be it for our betting tips or bookmaker reviews – and that’s not an accident. We want to be as transparent as possible about not just what we think, but why we think it, giving you as much data as possible along with the option to choose for yourself what you’d like to do with it.

Take our betting tips, for example. Rather than just randomly dishing out tips that may as well have been pulled out of a hat, our experts go into detail about the matchup in question. These explanations give an insight into how they’re thinking and how they got to their conclusions, and once again this transparency is no accident.

Our Expertise

Of course, being transparent would mean nothing if we didn’t know what we were talking about. At AustralianBettingSites, however, we pride ourselves on the fact that our experts are exactly that; seasoned sports lovers with experience in sports journalism, the betting industry, and sometimes both. Once you get to know our content, you’ll see that really shines through.

Our Passion

Bit of an intangible one here, but we reckon it’s pretty relevant. All our content writers are passionate sports lovers, and while we can’t prove it, we’re pretty sure that has a massive influence on the quality of our content. When someone writes about something they don’t know about, you can just tell, can’t you? That will never be the case here—everyone involved in the site lifelong sports lovers.

Responsible Gambling

While we’re all for a cheeky punt, there’s no denying the importance of responsible gambling. At the very least, you’ll want to be aware of the wealth of resources that are now available to help at-risk gamblers, these are some of the things that it’s important to be aware of in order to gamble responsibly.

Australian Gambling Regulations

Punting in Australia is very popular and very widely available, despite of—or perhaps thanks to—the many rules regulating it, usually with the intent to protect gamblers from developing problematic habits. The most important to be aware of have to do with who can gamble legally in Australia; basically, you need to be at least 18 years of age and within the country, and you’re good to go.

There are various other legal restrictions surrounding gambling which we refer to and elaborate on throughout the site; a relatively recent example has been making it illegal to advertise betting bonuses as an enticement, while live betting moved offline a few years ago, meaning punters now need to call up to place live bets.

Deposit limits

These are now available at every legitimate betting site in Australia, and these can be a great way to keep your gambling in check if need be. a deposit limit simply means setting a limit for how much you can deposit at a specific site; it could be $50 a week or a couple of hundred a month; it could be $42.50 over a 14-day period. The choice is entirely yours.

Self-exclusion

Australian betting sites now also offer self-exclusion, which as the name suggests simply involves you opting to exclude yourself from the betting site in question if you’re visiting it a little more than you like. You can pre-determine the period of exclusion yourself. On a larger scale, BetStop is an organisation which allows you to self-exclude from all betting sites in Australia for however long you choose.

Helplines

There are various helplines available if you feel that gambling is becoming a problem for you. These can be found on licensed bookmakers’ websites and will connect you with organisations such as Gambling Help Online and GambleAware.

Meet The Team

Our writers are our pride and joy, each bringing to the table years of experience, a true love for sports and sports betting, and a special expertise of their own. Meet:

Katheriene Mouradian

Katherine MouradianKatherine is a racing and sports writer based in Sydney, Australia. She has worked in the racing and sports industry for over eight years and has taken on many roles throughout this time. Her love, however, remains with writing tips across different racing and sports events.

She first started working at one of the biggest Australian horse racing sites in 2018 and hasn’t looked back since then. Her passion for racing and sports can be felt in every piece of writing she produces.

In her quest to provide the best tips going around, she leaves no stone unturned. She isn’t afraid to tip an upset either. The form and stats do the talking and dictate how she plays things. From Formula 1 to NRL and everything in between, Katherine will watch any sport that is put in front of her.

Matt abrahams

Matt AbrahamsMatt is a sports and racing writer who has been working in the field since 2016. He has provided betting tips for some of the biggest companies in the market, including Sportsbet, William Hill, PlayUp, and Betr, across a range of sports such as AFL, NRL, NBA, NFL, BBL, MLB, and Horse Racing. He is a serious participant in horse racing as a race horse owner with Viva Racing and a close associate of thoroughbredsales.com.au, the leading racehorse directory in Australia. His betting strategy focuses on identifying trends and using them to generate the best possible tips or advice.

James Salmon

James SalmonJames is a sports writer, editor and published author from Melbourne, Australia. He has close to a decade of experience in the writing industry, but his love for sports started long before that. The MCG was James’ favourite place in the world growing up (and probably still is), somewhere he would head most weekends to watch his beloved Tigers throughout the colder months, as well as every Boxing Day for the cricket. When he wasn’t watching footy or cricket, it was a safe bet he was either playing them, or watching something else – be it the surfing, the NBA, EPL, NRL or anything else he could find on the family TV. As the publisher of a book titled Sport’s Greatest Statistical Anomalies, it’s no surprise that statistics play a big role in James’ love of sports, and his love of numbers lends itself nicely to punting. Scouring the stats is something James finds a whole lot more fun than most people, so if you’re looking for some in-depth analysis for an upcoming game in all manner of sports, he’s your guy.

FAQs

Got a question? We might have answered it here:

Not with Australian betting sites. To bet online with an Australian bookmaker, you need to be on Aussie shores.

Australian rules and regulations dictate that specific betting bonuses can no longer be advertised either by betting sites themselves, or third parties. What we can tell you, however, is that the bonuses available with any bookie change fairly regularly, so one betting site cannot always lay claim to having the best bonuses.

That depends on the site. Many international bookmakers are not available in Australia, but some large ones like Bet365 and Unibet have Australian versions of their site.

The ones we recommend are. Obviously, every betting site is essentially trying to win against the punter, but those that we advertise are licensed and regulated by the appropriate authorities and therefore must periodically prove they uphold certain standards of fairness, RNG and data security.
