Read through Matt's Horse racing tips and best bets for Saturday's racing at Sandown. For my best bet of the day, it has to be Ferivia in Race 6 at Sandown. Also, for my cheeky value play, I've got my eye locked on Cadmus in Race 8 at Sandown. Expect a good track surface for racing on Saturday at Sandown, track has been rated a good 4 at this stage. A finish outside the top four in its last race, but potential remains for a better showing next time. Half the time, it's in front - will Saturday be another win? Ferivia raced at Moonee Valley last start, covering 1200m and finishing 6th. Hasn’t won at Sandown yet, but might be ready to change that.

Biggest Threat (Danger): Ole Dancer

Last race didn’t yield a top-four placing, but the run hinted at better to come. Ole Dancer ran at Moonee Valley on 06/09/2025, finishing 5th in a 1200m event. Usually reliable on good tracks and should be in the mix again.

Value Play: Prestige Snitzel

Coming off an eye-catching win in its most recent run. Prestige Snitzel raced recently, placing 1st in a 1200m event at Mornington.

He struggled to make the top four last start, but showed glimpses of ability. On 16/08/2025, Evaporate lined up at Caulfield, finishing 5th over 1400m. Solid strike rate at this trip (1500m), should be competitive.

Biggest Threat (Danger): Transatlantic

Finished a close second last race, right on the winner’s heels. Transatlantic competed at Flemington over 1400m, finishing 2nd. Flawless at this distance of 1500m - expect another bold showing. Proven over the distance, recording a 100 win percentage from 2 starts.

Value Play: Athanatos

A finish outside the top four last time, but signs of improvement were there. Last time out, Athanatos competed over 1400m, placing 6th at Flemington.

Top Tip (Best Bet): Hard To Cross

Hard To Cross has been a consistent performer, placing in three consecutive races without fail. Last start, Hard To Cross finished in the placings over 1600m at Ballarat on 19/09/2025. Competitive at this track, placing in 7 of 8 starts, with 5 wins.

Biggest Threat (Danger): Globe

A solid fourth last start, displaying consistency and strength. Never beaten over this trip 1800m - hard to look past it. Handles the distance well, boasting 2 wins from 2 runs. Sandown Racecourse and this runner have been good before. He really loves the conditions that this track offers. Track stats: 2-0-0, with a win rate of 100% and place rate of 100%.

Value Play: Cadmus

Missed the top four in his last run but showed enough to suggest a stronger performance is near. Performs well at this venue - winning record makes it one to watch when racing at Sandown.

Blake Shinn has a good mix of favourites and roughies.
