Analysis:

Can it really be anyone other than Autumn Glow? I don’t think so. The favourite has been dominating every race she has run so far in her short career. She is currently seven from seven, and this includes high-profile wins in races like the Group One Epsom Handicap (she was the $1.75 in that one).

The $2.15 price we are getting isn’t exactly high value, but it is really difficult to see how any of the competitors in this one can take her down. She gets a weight advantage on virtually every runner as well, and JMac sticks with her (why wouldn’t he?). The pair have a three from three record, and she is also three from three at Randwick.

Analysis:

I think there’s a sniff of a chance for Linebacker in this one. The gelding is coming through The Silver Eagle, a race he won as the favourite by over 2L. He will be tackling this one third-up, where he is already one from one. He was aiming for the Epsom Handicap, but that didn’t eventuate.

So, while he is third-up, there should still be a lot of gas in the tank, as his runs have been well spaced out. Zac Lloyd was on board for that win in The Silver Eagle, and he retains the ride. Linebacker should be peaking in this clash, and he looks like one of the few key rivals to Autumn Glow.

Analysis:

While the price for Panja Tower doesn’t exactly scream value, there’s still a lot to like, and he is going around with decent enough each-way odds. There’s a little bit of an unknown about this Japanese raider, but international runners always seem to perform decently in The Golden Eagle.

Jockey Kohei Matsuyama comes across from Japan to ride Panja Tower, and the pair have a record of 5:4-0-0 together. They will have a lot of options from barrier four as well. The stallion is looking for the hat trick of wins here, and he is one of the few that could surprise at each-way odds.
