Rentessis’s short career so far has been great, and after going down as the favourite last time out at Bendigo, I think he can redeem himself here. He’ll have to lug around the top weight, but looking at this field, he is the clear class runner. Jake Duffy has been on board for both career runs so far, and they draw barrier two, so there’s a lot to like.

Inquisitor opened at $2.15 and is now even money; it wouldn’t surprise me to see the shorten a smidge more. So, while $2.00 isn’t exactly anything to write home about, it’s decent enough in my eyes. He’s another who was narrowly beaten as the favourite last time out, and he gets a favourable draw. He looks well placed to break his maiden.

Heading to the last today at Ballarat, and I’ll be on Macedonian Marvel. If you want to take a risk, take Macedonian Marvel to win or each-way, but I’ll be playing it safe, because the $3.00 place odds are still good value. The gelding boasts back-to-back placings, and I think he’ll enjoy the 1,400m that’s on offer today. He draws well, so watch for him in the closing stages.
