Quick Analysis:

For the Big Dance, it’s difficult to go past the favourite, Gringotts. He is a super experienced runner, and after narrowly going down to Headley Grange (who is on the second line of betting for this one) last time out in the Alan Brown Stakes, he looks set to get one up on him. The setup looks a lot better, especially from barrier five.

It’s a fairly open field for this one, but Collated looks like the one to beat in my eyes. He comes into this one in winning form after getting the job done at Gawler in a BM56 last time out. The step up in both distance and class shouldn’t be of any concern. Jockey Alysha Warren sticks with him, and they get the weight claim as well.

After the Melbourne Cup, there is still plenty of action at Flemington, and in Race 9, I like the look of Surfin’ Bird. The mare is looking for four wins on the trot, and while she has been racing against weaker company than what she’ll get in this one, some of her wins have been incredible. I think she has the class to be competing at this level, so watch her go.
