While $1.85 doesn’t exactly scream value, Southern Prince looks like one of the top bets of the day at Kembla Grange. The gelding was able to break his maiden last time out here at Kembla Grange, and he steps up to the 1,600m now. In a field of just five, Southern Prince should easily dispatch his opponents.

There are three runners listed with odds of under $5.00 for this one, and Chilly Charlie is one of them. The 5YO almost managed a win last time out, while going around with odds of $15, he ended up just 0.46L off the favourite. He is pretty deep into his prep and will need to overcome the top weight, but he does seem a little classier than a lot of his rivals.

Heading to the last at Scone now, and I think I’ve managed to find one who has decent enough each-way odds in Pony Soprano. The gelding kicked off this prep with a win at Port Macquarie over 1,200m. His last two runs have been at 1,400m, but he drops back to 1,200m again for this one, which looks ideal. Should run well, and a top-three finish is well within sight.
