Aitu broke his maiden two runs back and then went straight into a Listed race at Flemington. That was a jump up from 1,400m to 1,800m as well, which didn’t really suit, as there was too much to do. The gelding drops back in class for this one, and it's across 1,600m. The each-way odds that we are picking up for him right now look good, despite there only being seven runners in this one now.

I’m expecting improvement from Supermassive in this race, and the gelding is the equal-favourite to break his maiden on the second attempt. Last time out, the 3YO finished second at Kembla Grange, just 0.2L off the leader. He books the services of Tim Clark this time out, and I expect him to rise in the grades quite quickly after this one.

Sticking with the favourite late in the day at Doomben. Breezin’ has four placings in her last four races, but hasn’t managed to grace the winner’s stall since January, which was also at Doomben. She draws wide, but hopefully that means jockey Jag Guthmann-Chester can keep her out of trouble in the early stages. She should be able to break through here.
