In a field of just eight runners, Blue Steel looks like the one to beat in my eyes. He has been at Cairns for his last three runs, and his results include two wins and a second place (by just 0.11L). His two wins have also come across the same trip. Jockey Lacey Morrison, who was on board last time out, sticks.

I reckon Lady Potato Head looks like a great each-way play late in the day at Geelong. She achieved back-to-back second placings before a disappointing run last time out. Heading to the last in Cairns now, and this is an open field according to the bookies, but I have my eye on Babushka Miss. The mare draws barrier one and is on the second line of betting. Won at Sale two runs back, but wasn’t able to go on with it last time out. She was sent for a spell after that run and should run well first-up.
