For the Crystal Mile at Moonee Valley, I’m siding with the narrow favourite, Rise At Dawn, who still presents decent value around the $4.00 mark. With back-to-back placings at Listed and Group Two level, I think it's time the gelding finally gets a win this prep. Michael Dee and Rise At Dawn have a great record together as well, 4:3-0-1.

Honestly, Colophon looks to have this one in the bag. The gelding gets weight relief, thanks to apprentice jockey Jace McMurray. He won by over 4L last time out at the Gold Coast, and with a bucket of scratchings already, this plays perfectly into Colophon’s hands. He opened around the $2.65 mark, take the $2.15 while you still can.

Late in the day at Randwick, I’ll be one Miss Roumbini, who is the narrow favourite to Manaal in The Invitation. Most recently, the mare finished second by less than a length to Sepals in the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes. She has an excellent third-up record, winning on both attempts, and she has also had success at 1,400m. A lot to like.
