Doomben, Race 2 - 6. Soul Of Spain

It’s a field of just six for this one now, thanks to one pre-race scratching. Soul Of Spain is the clear favourite according to the bookies, and he’s the one to beat in my eyes as well. He performed very well last time out, winning in Ipswich over 1,680m. Gets out to 2,020m and drops down to just 52.5kg.

The 5YO is yet to race at Doomben, but the way he has been going as of late, he looks like he’ll easily be able to take care of this field. While I think Soul Of Spain shouldn’t have any trouble winning this one, for my multi, I’m taking him to place, which is currently paying $1.22 with Bet Right.

Randwick, Race 4 - 8. Travolta

We head to Randwick now, and in Race 4, Travolta is the one to beat. His last three results include a win, a second placing, and, last time out, another win. One of those wins also came at Randwick, and so far this prep, he continues to rise in trip, which looks ideal. This isn’t that competitive of a race either.

The gelding is another one that looks to be heading in the right direction, and he drops from 62.5kg to 53kg for this clash. Zac Lloyd takes over from Siena Grima, and he is currently going around with odds of $1.40 to place with Bet Right. There are already a lot of scratchings in this race, so it might be worth going for the outright win.

Moonee Valley, Race 5 - 5. Red Hot Nicc

With back-to-back wins here at Moonee Valley, Red Hot Nicc looks set to complete the hat-trick. His two wins have also come over the 1,200m, which is what he gets again today. If it ain’t broke - don’t fix it! Yes, this is a higher quality than he has been competing in recently, but you are getting a bit of value for him.

The Phillip Stokes-trained gelding is currently going around with odds of $2.15 to get the place with PlayUp. It’s a fairly open affair in this one, and I think Red Hot Nicc has a good chance of running top two. His two recent wins have come on both Soft and Good-rated tracks, so that should be no problem as well.
