Eagle Farm, Race 2 - 6. Razors

Have to put Razors on top here, and the market agrees. He last raced at Randwick, where he finished fourth, but was beaten by a runner who is shooting the light out at the moment. The gelding has been back at the trials since then, which was decent.

He looks a little too classy for this field, and to top it all off, he draws the gun gate. Currently has a Soft record of 8: 0-3-1, and I think today is the day he can break through for his first win on a Soft track. Looking at his opponents, it’s easy to see why Razors is the favourite, currently paying $1.55 with PlayUp.

Moonee Valley, Race 4 - 2. Midwest

A field of just five runners for this one, and the market has this one as a fairly even affair, but my money’s on Midwest. Maps excellently well for this one, jumping from barrier five. He’ll look to get in control before the final turn. He has a decent record of Soft-rated tracks as well, 5: 1-2-1.

The 7YO finished in third place last time out at Flemington, 1.8L off the pace. Gets the services of Mark Zahra, which is a massive plus. He is also a multiple winner at this distance (1,000m) and is one to watch. Midwest is currently going around with odds of $2.20 to place with Bet Right.

Randwick, Race 9 - 16. Saltcoats

It’s a big field at Randwick, and at the time of writing, Saltcoats needs one more scratching to make it into the field (he is the second emergency). Tackling this one third-up, he looks to be a lot fitter and has already improved from his first to second run so far this prep.

Last time out, he finished third, 1.23L off the pace at Rosehill Racecourse. Gets in almost stupidly light at the weights as well and has the stamina to go with them in this one. Draws barrier one as well, so will have a lot of options to play with. PlayUp is currently offering $1.75 for Saltcoats to place.
