First Thought performed quite well last time out, finishing in third place by 2.6L when jumping with odds of $19. The Ciaron Maher-trained gelding has to be respected off that run, and the market has certainly spotted him. This looks like an excellent chance for him to break his maiden.

I Am Piki got the win last time out at Ballarat Synthetic and is looking to back up here at Pakenham Synthetic. She won her last race by 1.5L and was paying $3.10. With Jackson Radley on board, she gets a 1.5kg claim in the weights as well. Will need to overcome the wide barrier, but she can do it.

We haven’t seen Brial Rose since mid-April; she does have a good record here at Wagga. She has placed in two of her three outings here at the track. There are a couple of things she’ll need to overcome, mainly the top weight. But she’s a quality runner with a career record of 9:2-2-1, so I think she can get it done.

Stats and Insights

  • Hardly Fortunate is knocking on the door with two solid runs back. She has placed at Wagga and gets in well here in Race 3.
  • Badhatharry dominated when leading throughout the last start. He rises in class, but confidence is high and maps well in Race 8 at Wagga.
